Dr. Frank Puhalovich received his M.D. from Emory University School of Medicine in 1989. He did an internship in the Departments of Neurosurgery and General Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine from 1989 to 1990. During that time, he was also affiliated with the Department of Internal Medicine at Emory Affiliated Hospitals. After training at the School of Aerospace Medicine at Brooks Air Force Base from 1990 to 1993, Dr. Puhalovich served as a flight surgeon assigned to 2nd Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base. He was Chief of Flight Medicine beginning in 1991. He was assigned to B-52, KC-10 missions during Operation Desert Storm/Shield, Operation Southern Watch, and Operation Restore Hope. In 1993, he began his residency in neurology at Emory University School of Medicine, finishing in 1996.
Dr. Puhalovich received certification from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) in 1998. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology. He was chief of staff at North Fulton Hospital between 2007 and 2009 and directed the stroke program for many years. Dr. Puhalovich is interested in the use of thrombolysis in acute stroke and has participated in several research projects focused on stroke. Dr. Puhalovich practices at Wellstar North Fulton and Northside Forsyth Hospitals.
